What’s all this about then?

Ok, ok……

So, why did we decide to buy a 30 year old clapped out motor, paint it and take our young family to the bottom of France in it?

Well, lots of reasons really….

Our lives have changed massively with the success of our business, smartassess, and there is a danger of taking things for granted, being too comfortable, and actually not appreciating the most important things in life, the little things.

Every day, my job is looking at things and telling people how to improve it. High expectations, minute details, and do you know what? I don’t want another holiday where I’m thinking the same things all the time.

Our last big family holiday was in Tresco in the Scilly Isles. We travelled by helicopter.

So, the big idea was to put ourselves in a position where we can’t do that, or at least we’d be fighting a losing battle if we tried.

The thing with a camper is that they are never perfect. No matter what you do to them, they are basically falling apart bit by bit. Even the new ones you can buy only take 3-4 years before they start rusting. So why buy one? Why, when we could have a shiny new, practical motor home with 4 years warranty and a full service record?

Because we want to put ourselves in a position where we have to make do, and appreciate the effort we’ve put in actually getting somewhere, and realise that the important thing is that the family is together and building experiences together.

And they look cool.
